Oar Saddle Cinch Strapping Instructions

Some inflatable boats are pre-manufactured with existing D-rings to connect the Oar Saddle. If your boat does not have pre-installed D-rings, please proceed to the D-Ring Location Instructions sheets enclosed with your Oar Saddle. Extreme care must be taken on hot days or days when the temperature fluctuates. The inflatable watercraft's tube pressure can increase and as a result, tear the fabric of your boat, and/or put pull your d-rings right out. We recommend that you check your watercraft's inflation pressure on a regular basis during operation, and maintain it within the manufacturer's acceptable pressures. Attaching the Oar Saddle using the Cinch Straps: 1. After boat is fully inflated to the manufacturer's specified pressure, verify the top of the boat surface is free and clear of any sand, dirt, or debris of any kind that could get in between the Oar Saddle and the boat, and cause irregular wear on the raft. 2. Place your Oar Saddle Blanket (not shown in the picture below) on the inflatable boat tube, between the Oar Saddle and the boat. Position it so that no part of the Oar Saddle is making contact with the boat. 3. Locate the inboard and outboard D-rings on the side tube. Place the Oar Saddle on top of the side tube and center it between the connection D-rings with the Oar Tower on the outboard side of the raft tube. Grasp the tail of the cinch strap and thread the strap down through the upper connection slot. 4. Grasp the tail of the same cinch strap and thread it from the bottom up through the lower connection slot. Note that the strap rides on top of the Oar Saddle. This helps keep it in place and does not allow the strap to wear on the boat. 5. With tail end of the cinch strap, continue down to the D-ring and back up to the through the cinch buckle. Only tighten the strap about 2” (this allows for easier centering of the saddle when all four straps are in place). 6. Continue lacing the nylon cinch strap until all four cinch straps are in place. Verify that the Oar saddle is centered on the raft tube. The cinch buckles should sit as close as possible to the Oar Saddle. Tighten the inboard cinch straps to hold the saddle in the proper location. Tighten the outboard cinch straps. 7. Re-check the centerline alignment and re-center if necessary. Do a final tightening of all four cinch straps (follow Steps 1-7 to install cinch straps on the opposite side tube).

Warning: Do not over tighten the cinch straps! Care should be taken when tightening the cinch straps. They should only be tight enough to stop the motion of the Oar Saddle in any direction. You should not be able to slide you fingers between the cinch strap and the raft tube. The cinch straps should not be so tight that they are indenting the raft tube. Regularly check all of the Oar Saddle's cinch straps and keep them from becoming overly tight. Whenever you leave your watercraft, for a short time, we recommend reducing the pressure in your watercraft chambers to a safe margin so damage dose not occur while it is unoccupied.
